GIG 2

Just before Ramadan we carried out our 2nd Darwin Initiative funded genomics workshop in Bogor.

We taught 9 students genomics theory, genome assembly, phylogenomics and associated bioinformatics including new curriculum focused upon landscape genomics.

Fitri teaching genome assembly at BRIN Cibinong, Bogor.

This also included teaching from our previous participants on genomics theory and sequencing methods.

The project continues to aid the participants to build two high quality breadfruit genomes with Oxford Nanopore Tech sequencing experiments still ongoing.

Our funding was from the Darwin Initiative Capability and Capacity funding stream.

Huge thanks go to Sidonie Bellot, Oscar Pérez Escobar and Jeronimo Cid for teaching. All our participants were a pleasure to get to know and the perfect partners. Finally Himmah Rustiami and BRIN were critical to the success of this project – we are hugely thankful for your support.
